Platinum Art Deco style bar brooch from the fifties covered with diamonds

With 100 single brilliant cut diamonds encrusted in geometrical pierced platinum shapes, this 18K white gold brooch from 1950 is designed to praise the Art Deco style. From a central old European cut diamond two diamond-encrusted swirls bisect four horizontal diamond rows, of which the two centrelines are embellished with four triangular cut sapphires. The supremacy of this mesmerizing jewel lies even more in the refinement of the azure-cut back and the engraved rims.

Country of origin: Although it does not carry any legible control marks we believe this to be of Belgian origin.

Style specifics: This type of jewelry is very specific for the fifties of the twentieth century. As platinum was used a lot, the Art Deco period only 30 preceding and still used as source of inspiration, it is (even for the trained eye) sometimes very hard to note the difference between Art Deco and Fifties.

Diamonds: One old european cut diamond with an estimated weight of approx. 0.55 crt. (color and clarity: approximate H, i) 100 single brilliant cut diamonds (also called 8/8) with a total estimated weight of approx. 3.00 crt.
Note: All diamond weights, color grades and clarity are approximate since the stones were not removed from their mounts to preserve the integrity of the setting.

Total diamond weight: approx. 3.55 crt.

Precious stones: Six triangle shaped sapphires . We did not check if the sapphires are lab produced or not as this information has no influence on the value of the brooch. Natural sapphires and lab produced sapphires were both used in this era, rather more for their effect then for their intrensic value.

Birthstones: Diamond is the birthstone (or month stone) for April and sapphire for September.
