Big brilliant bi-color golden Retro ring

COUNTRY OF ORIGIN : Although it does not carry any legible control marks we believe it is of Belgian origin.
STYLE : Retro
STYLE SPECIFICS : Retro - Retro Style is a recent designation for the period in the forties when large scale, stylized geometric forms, drapes, bows or ribbons were all the rage. Pink Gold, set with colored stones, sometimes in floral forms was common.
PERIOD : 1940
MATERIAL : 18K bi-color gold (yellow and white), although most of this jewel is in yellow gold, the diamonds are set in white gold (or platinum). This finds it origin in a much older period where it was common for diamonds to be set in silver (see explanation on silver on gold).
DIAMONDS : One old mine brilliant cut diamond with an estimated weight of approx. 0.70 crt. (color approx. H, clarity approx. vs/si), four old brilliant cut diamonds with a total estimated weight of approx. 0.16 crt. and six single brilliant cut diamonds (also called 8/8) with a total estimated weight of approx. 0.18 crt.
TOTAL DIAMOND WEIGHT : carat (exclusive rose cut diamonds)
PRECIOUS STONES : Four (most probably) Verneuil rubies
BIRTHSTONES : Diamond is the birthstone (or month stone) for the month April
