Art Deco sapphire diamond cross pendant, large

An amazing quality Art Deco cross pendant loaded with sapphires and diamonds in platinum, original box, circa 1920's, excellent vintage condition… A touch of history.

What a nice cross we have here. Definitely a size we hardly ever see and simply loaded with diamonds, no less then an approximate 4.10 carats of diamonds. Also the closure (that is in platinum just as the rest of this jewel) is set with diamonds. The sapphires that are used are polished specially to fit in the cross. Take a close look at the way it is made and be amazed by the quality just as we were.

Theme: Cross - The word cross was introduced to English in the 10th century as the term for the instrument of the torturous execution of Jesus (gradually replacing the earlier word rood), ultimately from Latin crux, via Old Irish cros. The word can nowadays refer to the geometrical shape unrelated to its Christian significance. The Latin Crux (translating Greek stauros) was a Roman torture device used for crucifixion.

Diamonds: One old mine brilliant cut diamond with an estimated weight of approx. 0.50 crt. 5 old mine brilliant cut diamonds with a total estimated weight of approx. 0.80 crt. 80 single brilliant cut diamonds (also called 8/8) with a total estimated weight of approx. 2.80 crt.
Note: All diamond weights, color grades and clarity are approximate since the stones were not removed from their mounts to preserve the integrity of the setting.
