Let's face it, jewelry is not a basic need and that we are able to share our love for jewelry with our customers is a luxury that we are accustomed to. Of course we knew this but did not always realize it till we came across the good works the Dutch Mrs. Els Wijt-Mulder does in Kenya.
Els and her team are helping handicapped children, orphans and street-children in Kisumu, Kenya. They help them with housing, education, rehabilitation, therapy, and education on reproductive health and HIV/AIDS.
Els did go to Kenya in October 2005 with the goal to help these children. She herself lost her two legs from under knee in 1946 by a railway accident when she was three years old. She knows what it means to be a handicapped child in terms of socio-psychological factors.
She and her team established a nursery and primary Montessori school, for abled and disabled children and a "Family Home" for the handicapped orphans.
When speaking with Els she openly told me that of course her primary goal is to help the underprivileged in this world but she also emphasized that is a win-win situation for her because of the good feeling she gets from it.
Touched by Els’ initiative will we donate her project 10% of the proceeds of every online sale we make the first two weeks this month. Besides that you are more then welcome to directly support Els and her team to donate directly.

It might be only a drop in the ocean, but to the thirsty every drop counts.
To the next chapter in this month's issue: "History".
