Pendeloque cut

A style of cutting a diamond (or other transparent gemstone) in a modification of the brilliant cut, so that the girdle is somewhat pear-shaped (rounded at the bottom end and pointed at the top) with an irregular 8-sided table. It has on the crown 8 large trapezium-shaped facets and 24 triangular facets, and on the pavilion 8 large trapezium-shaped facets arranged as a central 8-pointed star and 16 surrounding triangular facets, thus a total of 56 facets plus the table and sometimes a culet.

It is sometimes pierced along its length (to be used in an earring) or across its top (to be used as a pendant).
