Ring clip

A device placed inside the shank of a loose-fitting finger ring to make it fit securely. It is a narrow strip made of a hard, springy metal, silver or a gold alloy.

There are two types:

• The strip is soldered at one end to the inside of the shank, the balance being an unattached spring curve.
• The strip has lugs at each end, which are pressed over the edge of the shank.
