Psyche

Psyche

See our: mythological jewelry.

She was so exceptionally beautiful that it even made Venus jealous, who decided to send her Cupid, or Amor if you like, the God of love who launches his love arrows to make people fall in love. Venus’ plan was to make Psyche fall in love with a fool, but Amor accidentally got hit by one of his own arrows and consequently fell madly in love with her. Amor invited her to his palace but did not want her to see his face so she could only see him in the dark. Psyche became so curious about his looks that she entered his bedroom one night holding a lamp but unfortunately spilled some hot oil on him so he woke up. He left her angrily, and his palace disappeared.

Psyche (i.e. soul in English) roamed around the earth looking for her loved one. Hoping to find Amor back she accomplished several impossible tasks giving to her by Venus. In the end Jupiter, touched by Amor’s pleads, took care of Psyche and she was reunited with Amor in Heaven.
