Reproduction

An article that is a close copy of a genuine article but made without any intent to deceive. It might be a copy of a genuine article that had been made at a prior date and recognized as a work of art, such as the copies of Etruscan articles with granulated gold decoration made by Fortunato Pio Castellani and his son Alessandro in the mid-19th century, and later by Carlo Giuliano and Giacinto Melilo.

Reproductions of some important articles of jewelry have been made by the electroforming process. Multiple reproductions of modern jewelry (e.g. pieces created by outstanding designers, with or without gemstones, and also costume jewelry marketed by leading couturiers) are made with the same design and materials by the original maker and sold legitimately, with no intent to deceive.
