Art Deco Diamond and Ruby Ring in 18K Rose Gold, circa 1930

A compact Art Deco ring in warm 18K rose gold, centred on two old mine cut diamonds.Its elongated openwork design is framed by ruby-red accents and rose-cut diamonds in white metal settings, giving it a clear geometric character. Made around 1930, it combines coloured stones and diamond detail in a light, wearable ring.

Material: 18K rose gold, touchstone tested, with white gold or platinum diamond settings.

Diamonds: two old mine cut diamonds, with an estimated total weight of 0.24 carats, F–H colour and VS–SI clarity; and 10 rose-cut diamonds.

Total diamonds: 12 diamonds, with an estimated total weight of 0.24 carats, excluding the 10 rose-cut diamonds.

Rose-cut diamonds are traditionally described by number rather than by estimated weight, colour or clarity. Their irregular proportions—often compounded by closed settings—make reliable weight estimation and standard grading impracticable while mounted.

To preserve the integrity of the ring and its settings, the diamonds were assessed while mounted and were not removed for weighing or grading; stated weights, colour and clarity are therefore approximate.

We individually screened every diamond in this ring using the EXA Natural Diamond Detector developed by Magilabs; each test returned a natural-diamond result.

Gemstones: eight rectangular-cut Verneuil synthetic rubies.

Traditional gemstone associations: Diamonds, traditionally associated with April, symbolise enduring love and strength; rubies, associated with July, symbolise love and vitality.
