Safety chain

A short, thin chain used to prevent loss of a bracelet or necklace by being attached to each terminal as security in case the clasp should come open. Such chains, made of gold links, are usually attached to pieces of high value. Occasionally a brooch has a safety chain attached, joined to a small safety pin.
