Dutch rose cut

The style of cutting a diamond (or other transparent gemstone) in the basic form of the rose cut, with a flat, 12-sided base and two horizontal rows of 24 facets: the upper row (called the crown) has 6 low facets (called star facets), rising to a point, and the lower row (called the dentelle) has 18 facets (called star facets), of which 6 abut the star facets and point downward and 12 in pairs are between them and are along the girdle.

The height of the stone is ideally equal to half of the diameter. It is used mainly for small diamonds set in jewelry that includes a larger coloured stone. Also called 'Holland rose' or 'crowned rose'.
