Articles of jewelry made in the form of, or decorated with a representation of, some object of sporting equipment, e.g. a tennis racquet, golf club, golf ball, fishing rod, riding crop, etc. Such pieces of novelty jewelry became popular in England in the late 19th century when women entered such fields of sport and wore related jewelry. Sporting equipment is a popular motif on modern charms.
