Watch

A small timepiece to be carried or worn on the person. Watches were probably made from c. 1500.

A watch is worn in several ways:

• a pocket watch, attached to a watch fob or a watch chain
• a bracelet watch or wrist watch, attached to a bracelet or band around the wrist
• a pendant watch worn by a woman suspended from a brooch or chain
• a lapel watch
• a finger-ring watch
