Figural jewelry

Articles of jewelry, usually a pendant or a brooch, decorated with some story-telling theme portrayed by figures. The style was introduced in French jewelry under Francis I, 1515-47, and continued until the end of the reign of Henry II, 1547-59. Examples were designed by Étienne Delaune, inspired by the work of Hans Holbein The Younger.
