Reflector

A reflecting material that was formerly used as a mirror to increase the brilliance of a diamond (especially a pure colourless stone) by catching the light entering the stone and reflecting it back. It was placed below the stone in the bottom of the bezel in which the stone was set. This method was used in the 16th century.
